Duty of Candour

At Mr Skulpt Aesthetics—a Healthcare Improvement Scotland–regulated medical aesthetics clinic in Bellshill—your safety, dignity and trust come first. Part of that commitment is following Scotland’s Duty of Candour: the legal and ethical requirement to be open and honest with you if something goes wrong in your care.

What the Duty of Candour means

If an unexpected incident causes harm, we will:

  • Tell you promptly what we know and keep you updated as we learn more.
  • Say sorry with a sincere, unreserved apology.
  • Explain clearly what happened and why.
  • Agree next steps to support you and reduce any impact.
  • Learn and improve, recording the incident, reviewing our practice, and putting changes in place to prevent a recurrence.

When it applies

The Duty of Candour applies to certain significant, unintended or unexpected events that result in defined levels of harm. Even when an issue doesn’t meet that legal threshold, we still aim to be transparent and supportive.

Our track record

We’re pleased to report that Mr Skulpt Aesthetics has had no Duty of Candour incidents to date. If one were to occur, we are prepared to act quickly, compassionately and transparently in line with the law and best practice.
